May (Already!)

The year is flying by already before it even seemed to begin. Life progresses on its course.

The weather doesn't seem too May-like around Siskiyou County: very rainy and cold. It hasn't hurt growth, however. Our lilacs are blooming beautiful and oh-so fragrant flowers which the wife has all over the house in containers. I planted grass from seed in a large area in our backyard and the rain has really helped it literally explode through the ground. Some garden herbs have been planted but the majority of the garden is still in my head until the rain stops. As usual our garden focuses on salsa ingredients which we make by the gallons in the summer.

Dispatch work has been steady. Part-time sucks for the simple fact that I rely on others to take time off for me to get work and with only 6 full-time dispatchers, I worry about getting my time. But so far, I haven't had to worry, and take everything I can get, even if that leads to some long stretches and mixed hours. I can always get a few hours writing parking tickets around town but I hate doing that cus everyone hates me in town when tickets get written. My free time, after house chores or life's necessities, is spent watching the many tv shows I love, reading, and playing on the Xbox 360.

The wife is kicking ass in her dispatch job with the USFS. She has it good. While I work alone in dispatch and handle only law enforcement calls, she gets everything else: medicals, fires, accidents, etc. She works in a huge dispatch center that houses both Cal-Fire and USFS. She works hard and really has grown into her job like no one but her could do. They have sent her to tons of training and she is really special in my eyes and I am so proud of her. Besides her hard work AT work, she blows my mind at the energy and commitment she has for a clean house and still doing all the things around the house. I try and help out as much as possible but I can't compete with her energy. No wonder she goes to bed so early every night.

Sam doing awesome. Last report card revealed straight As and he has a good attitude to boot. He had an awesome time visiting his grandpa in Alabama and I'm so glad he got to experience everything he did. He is funny, handsome, easy to get along with, and (for the most part) an awesome kid in every respect.

Emily also is doing well in school but life distracts her just enough to keep those straight As at bay. She is a social butterfly, always busy doing something, and is quite the beautiful girl. She keeps busy doing whatever she can get her hands on, always going places and doing things. She loves her cheerleading and is planning on cheering in High School next year.

Zach (our 'adopted' nephew who lives with us) is still working hard in college at CoS but is in a dilemma over what to do now. He was relying on track scholarships to pave his way through college but the amount of money various schools have offered him aren't nearly enough to pay his way. Since he wants to be a cop so badly, I've recommended he join the military. Military Police really look good on a resume (as does the military by itself) and being kinda on his own in the world, I think the experience would be incredibly awesome for him. We'll see what happens in the next few months. I ride him hard, and he thinks its cus I don't like him or don't like him living at our house. Quite the opposite. I see his potential and know what he's capable of, probably more than he or anyone else realizes. But without motivation or direction life's gonna catch up quickly and make those dreams harder to come by.

Otherwise life is good. Been really enjoying seeing lots of old faces on Facebook, from my Army days, high school, and other friends I've met over the years. Is it sad that in the town I have lived in for almost 20 years now I have only a couple friends? Oh well, my journey through life and my jobs has made me somewhat anti-social, friendless, distrustful, and not much for the social scene. My family is all I need.

My blogs have been more infrequent as of late but I hope to change that and keep on this more. As you can see from the history of this blog I have been writing it for quite some time, but the consistency has been lacking. Again....oh well. I don't care cus I don't expect anyone to read this but I write it anyway because I love to write and putting my thoughts into words is often very relaxing.

So there it is!
